About Me

I am Robert Warren owner of Damp and Timber Tech.

I am a surveyor with 35 years experience and industry knowledge in property preservation and remedial building works.

I am an experienced independent building surveyor specialising in all aspects of damp, structural waterproofing, basement waterproofing and conversions, condensation, wood boring beetle, dry rot, wet rot and fungal decay.

“Damp and Timber Tech was established to provide independent impartial professional examination, pathology and inspection of properties. I provide a friendly, professional survey service working solely on behalf of my client. Working with my clients and other professionals to ensure that the most effective solution can be made.”

I have spent time working and contracting at all levels within the damp proofing and timber preservation industry, firstly working as a damp proofing technician, and plasterers mate, learning how dampness is caused, and more importantly how it can be cured and controlled.

I then progressed my career as an apprentice carpenter, carrying out timber replacements and repairs, including internal joinery, moulded skirting’s, staircases, box sashes, and structural beam replacements, and completing a five year apprenticeship in Carpentry and Joinery, this giving me my knowledge and experience in building construction and their inherent defects. I learnt how dampness attacks timber and causes decay. I also learnt how to repair and preserve timbers effectively. I have worked in period properties, and conservation areas through to new construction.

In 1994, I started a successful local company with a partner, which is still trading. Here I learnt how to manage a business, and train staff to the required levels, and dealt with clients on a daily basis ensuring that works were carried out to required standards.

I returned to University and further studied CEM Diploma in surveying practice and CEM Postgraduate Diploma in Surveying taking a further 5 years to complete.
